Investing in the future of roofing

Our industry leading roofing brands Redland and Icopal are well known for training people in the roofing sector. In fact BMI Redland opened the industry's very first training centre in South Cerney in 1983. We continue that heritage and support today with the BMI Academy and our on-going relationships with roofing colleges and training centres throughout the UK and Ireland. It is through these relationships that we get to see how talented many of our new roofers are and we are passionate about continuing that support and guidance to protect the future of our workforce.

As an industry we are facing a major skills shortage and we understand we have a crucial role to play in encouraging young people into the roofing sector. We do this by providing first in class training at our BMI Academy with both practical hands-on training programmes and courses through our e-learning platform. We also promote opportunities to celebrate and recognise young roofers through our very own Apprentice of the year competition, and our on-going support and sponsorship of the NFRC Young Roofer of the Year award. Both competitions provide a platform to celebrate young roofers.
