VGP Park Graz

The first building was erected at VGP Park Graz in 2021. The roof area of this construction phase covered around 8,000 square metres, and the eventual total will be in excess of 40,000 square metres. Completion of the entire site has been done in 2022. The roof structure consists of a load-bearing laminated timber beam structure, trapezoidal steel sheets, vapour sealing and PIR insulating panels, or mineral insulation if necessary.

BMI’s Cosmofin GG plus synthetic roofing membrane was selected for the waterproofing of the roof. This high quality thermoplastic film is made from monomeric plasticised PVC. It is reinforced in the middle with an extremely sturdy combination carrier made of glass fibre fabric and glass fibre mat. The receptive features of the Cosmofin roofing membrane, with their many years of proven reliability, allow for excellent workmanship.

The glass fibre mat makes the membrane particularly suitable for installation under ballast. At the same time, however, the central reinforcement makes it the right choice in mechanically attached structures. Cosmofin GG plus is designed specifically for efficient large-area waterproofing in new buildings. It offers major financial advantages as only one membrane is needed for two types of installation.

Besides Cosmofin GG plus, BMI also supplied the ideal accessories such as detail membranes, pipe surrounds (approx. 100 pcs.) and adhesive. This also guaranteed that only system-compatible components were used for the detail and connection work. This is particularly important as at least two per cent of the roof area at VGP Park Graz is translucent and includes skylights, fanlights or similar elements.

In addition, the emergency drainage of the roof was created with BMI’s Performa Drain system solution. Precisely calculated drainage and the use of high-quality products provide an essential basis for the necessary protection, especially with such large roof areas.
